Theater actress-singer May Bayot-De Castro passes away

MANILA — Veteran theater actress-singer May Bayot-De Castro, sister of OPM icon Lani Misalucha, has passed away.

Misalucha shared the sad news on Monday night through a social media post.

“Some walk beside us for years. Others leave sooner than we’re ready for. But every person we love leaves a little light behind. I love you Ate,” Misalucha captioned her Facebook post.

Bayot-de Castro was the original Elsa in the stage adaptation of “Himala” in 2003. 

In 2019, she returned to Cupang as part of “Himala: Isang Musikal.”

Bayot-De Castro was also known for her portrayals in Skin Deep and Rated:PG.

In July, Misalucha asked prayers for her sister’s recovery, who was then hospitalized due to serious complications.

Based on a Go Fund Me post last September, Karlyn Scali said that her sister Bayot-De Castro battled “primary myelofibrosis”, a type of bone marrow cancer.
