ABS-CBN programs recognized among the most child-friendly

MANILA — ABS-CBN News shows “May Puhunan” and “Tao Po” were recognized among the most child-friendly television programs by the National Council for Children’s Television’s Child-Friendly Content Awards on Tuesday.

“My Puhunan” host Migs Bustos accepted the award on behalf of ABS-CBN News and highlighted the importance of making shows that empower the youth for a better future.

“Maganda ring mapag-isipan natin paano rin ba maituturo sa mga kabataan yung tamang pagnenegosyo. Kumbaga maturuan na agad sila ng business sense,” he said.

“So ang award na ito, very thankful tayo kasi hindi lang pala siya sa mga adults tumatatak kundi yung mga kabataan, na-appreciate din siya.”

Bustos emphasized that the changes ABS-CBN News has gone through in recent years have forced the teams behind different programs to be innovative and explore new ways of telling compelling stories of the Filipino.

“Challenged tayo. Pero we remain in that commitment to serve the people through storytelling.”

Also honored by the NCCT was Knowledge Channel President and Executive Director Rina Lopez, who underscored the importance of reaching the youth through meaningful programs, despite the changing media landscape and the shift to online platforms.

“As children’s media moves from television to social media, our responsibility grows. We must create content that not only educates and entertains but also helps children feel seen, heard, represented and protected,” she said.

“Idol Kids Philippines” was also recognized as a child-friendly television program.

A2Z, meanwhile, was also recognized as a child-friendly television network. The network broadcasts entertainment and news programs created and produced by ABS-CBN.
