For many Filipinos, AlA Philippines, formerly Philam Life, is known as a life insurance company that helps people prepare financially for the future, but beyond life insurance, AIA Philippines offers health and accident insurance, savings plans, and other financial protection solutions. In 2023, it also acquired MediCard, one of the country’s leading Health Management Organizations (HMOs), strengthening its integrated health strategy and expanding access to healthcare through a broader ecosystem of protection, prevention, and care. AIA Philippines enables Filipinos to manage both their financial and physical well-being through a more seamless, end-to-end health and wellness experience.
The company is also strengthening its commitment to integrate sustainability into its business operations and community initiatives.
Formerly known as Philam Life, the company was established on June 21, 1947. As of December 31, 2025, it reported total assets of P253.35 billion and a net worth of P70.14 billion. It served more than 1.1 million individual policyholders and over 1 million insured group members.
AIA Philippines is part of AIA Group Limited, one of the largest pan-Asian life insurance groups operating across 18 markets in Asia, including the Philippines, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Across its markets, AIA Group works to advance a sustainable future by connecting health and well-being with responsible investment, environmental stewardship, inclusive workplaces, and sound governance. In the Philippines, these commitments take shape through initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, support communities, and encourage responsible business practices.
Sustainability is often associated with environmental initiatives but for AIA, it is more than that.
At AIA Philippines, sustainability is guided by the broader AIA Group Sustainability Framework which is anchored on AIA’s purpose of helping people live “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives”. The framework focuses on five strategic pillars: Health and Wellness, Sustainable Investment, Sustainable Operations, People and Culture, and Effective Governance. Together, these pillars integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations across AIA’s business and align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including those related to good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, decent work, responsible consumption, climate action, and strong institutions.
For many people, sustainability is often associated primarily with environmental initiatives. For AIA Philippines, however, it encompasses a much broader commitment to creating long-term value for customers, employees, communities, and society.
The AIA Philippines Sustainability Report 2025 demonstrates how this commitment is put into action, highlighting the company’s progress across its five sustainability priorities. Through these pillars, AIA Philippines aims to drive meaningful impact not only for the environment, but also for the health, resilience, and well-being of Filipinos

Promoting healthy lifestyles, investing responsibly, reducing the environmental impact of business operations, supporting employees, and maintaining strong governance all contribute to a future where people and communities can thrive. Together, they show how sustainability may become part of everyday decisions, from the services offered to customers to the way a company manages its resources and relationships.
For AIA Philippines, building a healthy future begins with helping people make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
In 2024, the company brought health education to schools and communities through its Health and Wellness initiatives through the AIA Healthiest Schools. To date, it reached 50 schools across Metro Manila and several provinces, training 1,249 teachers and engaging 87,237 students.
Last year, the company also partnered with the Knowledge Channel Foundation to launch Gen H: Generation Healthy, an educational television series designed to help improve health literacy among Filipino children and encourage healthy lifestyle choices from an early age. Since its launch, the series has garnered more than 9 million views.
AIA Philippines also strengthened its integrated healthcare ecosystem through its 2023 acquisition of Medicard, expanding access to outpatient, dental, emergency, and diagnostic coverage. This year, AIA Philippines won Health Insurance Initiative Award at the Insurance Asia Awards for MediCard,
These initiatives reflect a broad role in supporting people beyond financial protection. By bringing health education to schools, expanding access to healthcare services, and encouraging healthy everyday habits, AIA Philippines helps individuals and families make informed choices about their well-being at different stages of life.
Meanwhile, AIA Group’s AIA One Billion recorded more than 175 million engagements with Filipinos in 2025. AIA Vitality also continued to advance preventive health by motivating members to make healthier choices and take positive steps toward better wellbeing every day.
Building a healthy future also involves making investment decisions that consider their broad environmental and social impact.
In 2025, AIA Philippines invested PHP1.74 billion in green and sustainability bonds. The company also continued to exclude coal-related investments and applied environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating scorecards to all investee companies covered by its assessment. These measures help integrate sustainability considerations into its investment decisions.
AIA Philippines continues to advance its sustainability agenda by reducing the environmental footprint of its operations while fostering healthy, sustainable workplaces. The company achieved a significant reduction in operational emissions against its baseline, expanded the use of renewable energy across key properties, and implemented energy-efficiency initiatives to support responsible resource management. Complementing these efforts, all major AIA facilities maintain WELL Health-Safety certification standards, providing safe and healthy environments for employees and visitors. AIA also promotes responsible business practices across its value chain through robust supplier governance and sustainability standards.
Reducing the environmental impact of its operations is one way AIA Philippines contributes to a sustainable future. Improving energy efficiency and increasing the use of renewable energy help the company manage its resources responsibly while working toward its environmental goals.
AIA Philippines’ sustainability efforts also extend to creating a workplace where employees have opportunities to develop their skills, grow professionally, and take on leadership roles.
In 2025, women accounted for 66% of the company’s workforce and 65% of its senior leadership. AIA Philippines also continued to invest in employee development, through ongoing learning initiatives and training programs, equipping employees with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver long-term business success.
A supportive workplace is also an important part of sustainability. Creating opportunities for employees to develop, participate, and lead a culture that fosters a place where people may grow alongside the organization. These efforts reflect the importance of investing in people as part of building a business that may contribute to society over the long term.
Through these efforts for its employees, AIA Philippines has received recognition for its workplace culture, including Great Place to Work and Best Places to Work recertifications. AIA Philippines was also named among the inaugural Fortune 100 Companies to Work For in Southeast Asia, and most recently won five recognitions at HR Asia Awards — Best Companies to Work for in Asia, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, People Transformation, Sustainable Workplace, and Tech Empowerment.
Responsible leadership and accountability are essential to sustaining these initiatives. In 2025, AIA Philippines strengthened its risk oversight and ESG reporting practices. Its corporate governance efforts earned two Golden Arrows, while BPI AIA received three.
Strong governance helps ensure that sustainability commitments are supported by clear responsibilities, sound decision-making, and accountability. By strengthening its oversight and reporting practices, AIA Philippines reinforces the importance of managing risks and maintaining responsible business standards as it pursues its long-term goals.
For AIA Philippines, sustainability encompasses more than environmental protection. It also means helping people make healthy choices, investing responsibly, supporting employees, and maintaining sound business practices.
Together, these efforts reflect the company’s commitment to helping Filipinos live “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives”.
