DOTr to overhaul LTO, modernize services
The Land Transportation Office in Quezon City. Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/File MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday said it plans to overhaul the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to modernize its facilities, streamline transactions, and eliminate fixers.
On his first day back as DOTr Secretary, Vince Dizon stressed the need to improve the agency’s services and make transactions more efficient and convenient for the public.
“Kailangan talaga i-modernize na natin, gawin na nating maayos ang LTO once and for all,” Dizon said.
“Mag 2027 na, ang mga kababayan natin pumipila pa rin, fixer pa rin hanggang ngayon. Kailangan i-modernize na natin, gawin na nating efficient and mas convenient,” he added.
The Palace earlier this week announced that Dizon, then head of the Department of Public Works and Highways, would be swapping posts with then transportation chief Giovanni Lopez.
“In the President’s own words: ‘We are shifting gears to accelerate reform. Secretary Dizon goes to DOTr to fix the daily commute. Secretary Lopez goes to DPWH to make sure the reforms there last,’” Communications Secretary Lino Cayetano said Monday.
