​PH sneaker community mourns passing of Sole Movement’s Martin David

Martin David, known for helping spark the country’s sneaker culture through the online platform Sole Movement, has passed away. 

On Monday, October 26, members of the local sneaker community took to social media to mourn his death. 

Among them is prominent shoe collector and Secret Fresh gallery owner Bigboy Cheng, who said in a Facebook post: “We lost one of the best.”

Addressing David, he added: “Thanks for everything. Love you, boss.”

Sports websites Tiebreaker Times and SLAM Philippines also paid tribute to the sneaker enthusiast, with the latter calling him “the OG and the Godfather.” 

David, 47, has been credited as a catalyst in the Philippine sneaker space via Sole Movement, which he launched in 2008. 

The online platform went on to become an authority of sneakers and street culture in the country.

Details of David’s passing have yet to be revealed as of writing.
