Ruffa Gutierrez says father Eddie is cancer-free; slams fake news about Annabelle Rama

MANILA — While Ruffa Gutierrez did not disclose details of her father Eddie Gutierrez’s battle with cancer, she revealed that he is now cancer-free.

The actress previously only asked the public to pray for her father as he underwent a spinal procedure in Singapore.

“I want to share with you the good news, my dad is cancer free. Tinago namin iyon sa inyo, because we did not really want to talk about what was happening with my dad,” the actress shared during the screening of her latest movie “Red Crown,” in Taguig City on Tuesday.

“We found out the good news two weeks ago that he is cancer free and is really getting better. Iyon ang good news. Happy kami,” she added.

Ruffa thanked fans for their love and support, recalling how her family turned to them when they became more concerned about her father’s condition.

“There was one time we were really worried about my dad. Alam niyo naman iyon. We asked for prayers. We brought him to Singapore,” she said.

She went on: “A lot of people prayed for my dad. I want to thank them for their prayers. It really worked. Maraming salamat sa fans ng daddy ko, marami overseas… Thank you so much for the prayers they really worked because now my dad is better.”

Ruffa also slammed the fake news circulating online that her mother Annabelle Rama passed away.

“Hindi totoo yung fake news na iyon… She is definitely not dead. She is alive and kicking. Thank God,” she clarified.

The “Red Crown” actress also called out content creators who spread false information about her mother and urged them to be more responsible.

“Hindi lang para sa akin… Wag na kayo gumawa ng fake news, kasi nakaka sira kayo ng buhay. Alam ko kailangan niyo kumita, mahirap buhay ngayon, but maybe find ways and means that are positive, and can inspire other people,” she admonished.

Ruffa added that while Rama is not “100 percent healthy” as she continues to manage her diabetes, she is doing well, and the family is encouraging her to become more active.

“For her birthday, ang wish namin for mommy is to be more sporty… to eat more healthy, to walk around, use her legs,” she explained. “For my mom we are just praying for her to be more healthy. And wag sana kumain masyado ng lechon. Mataas kasi palagi blood pressure and sugar.”
