Vice Ganda, contestants tease what to expect in ‘LOL’ Season 2

Comedian Vice Ganda. Anna Cerezo, ABS-CBN News MANILA — Host Vice Ganda and the contestants of “LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” Season 2 teased a more intense comedy showdown, with the new season promising playful rivalries, unexpected alliances, and humor that resonates across generations.

“It is a great opportunity to showcase the best of Philippine comedy… Ito pinaka-bardagulan na comedy show mapapanood natin lahat,” Vice said during the media conference held in Makati City on Tuesday.

She also highlighted the distinctiveness of Filipino humor, saying, “Philippine comedy is something to be proud of.”

According to showrunner Randolph Longjas, the success of the first season of the Prime Video offering extended beyond the country.

“Philippines lang may season 2… Ang maganda sa LOL, hindi lang siya nag-number one sa Philippines. Pati sa ibang bansa. We made sure mas maganda season 2,” he enthused.

Contestant James Caraan said audiences can expect relatable jokes and gags.

“May relevance din siya sa events. Patawa pero may laman,” he teased.

Meanwhile, fellow contender Candy Pangilinan shared that despite their different comedic styles, the humor is universal.

“Walang basagaan ng trip with this group. Suportahan ka namin. Very universal. I can say the comedy and humor are very universal,” she shared.

They also assured that they learned from the first season and focused on delivering comedy without resorting to gross humor.

“Natuto na rin sa season 1—i-a-assure namin walang kadiri. Pure comedy ginawa namin,” Caraan said.

He added that the lineup represents different generations and allows the comedians to build on one another’s performances.

“Lahat ng generations may representation sa lineup. Ang ganda ng batuhan. Hindi nila hinahayaan ma-waley. Saluhan. Parang naging improv, barangay. Naging parang community eksena namin,” he recalled.

Vice, meanwhile, revealed the alliances and betrayals viewers can expect from the competition.

She also teased that Long Mejia is among the strongest contenders.

“Makita niyo may kampihan, may nagtutulungan, meron din nagtatrayduran… Isa si Long sa pinakamagaling sa season na ito kasi siya tina-target,” she said.

“Nag-uusap-usap kayo. Nadinig ko kayo, tinatapakan niyo antena ko, sabi ni Long… buti may isang kaibigan si Epy target ka,” Mejia added.

For Esnyr, the youngest contestant, joining the show was both an honor and an opportunity to learn.

“Pagpasok ko doon, totoo ba ‘tong napasukan ko! To be able to share the room with the greatest comedians, I am happy. Learning experience ito for me. Ang laking impact nito,” he said.

“LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines” Season 2 will premiere on Prime Video beginning Oct. 30.
