Kris Aquino on facing death: ‘Mas natanggap ko na there is a beginning and an end’

The Philippines’ Queen of All Media Kris Aquino shared what her prayer has been like in this stage of her life and acknowledged the challenges she’s faced over the past couple of years. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda on Fast Talk, the celebrity mom admitted how she hopes her son, Bimby Aquino, won’t be there at the time of her passing.

Kris has been diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases and has been getting treatment for the past couple of years.

“Mas natanggap ko na there is a beginning and an end. Mas kaya kong harapin na when I sleep, I may not wake up–– that’s a reality that not many people have to face on a nightly basis but for me, tanggap na tanggap ko na yun. Sometimes also I pray na if that will happen, I hope that Bimb is not with me,” she expressed.

Bimby, who was at the interview, recalled a memory when his mom didn’t want him to be in the same room that night as she didn’t want him to see her pass away.

“There was one time my mom wanted me to sleep away because it’s really one of those bad days talaga. ‘Honey I don’t want you to be the one to find me if I pass,’” Bimby recalled.

Kris went on to explain that it’s not fair for her son to see her in that condition for one last time to which Bimby had an answer to as well.

“For me mom, I prefer to be the one to find you. It might sound morbid but it’s a special moment eh, no matter how morbid it is, it’s special because it’s with you,” he maintained.

The celebrity mom recalled how her mother, former President Cory Aquino, passed away back in 2009 and how she knows it will affect her son if he would be one of the first people to see her when she passes away.

“I was 38 when my mom passed and she suffered for a year and five months. So parang nakita namin that she fought and she did that because she knew we were not ready. This has been going on with me for five and a half years,” she said.

“For someone as young as him, that’s too much. Ako talaga, sana when it’s time, I don’t want to die at home. I would like to be in a hospital and I hope to make it to 60,” she added.

In the same interview, Bimby expressed that he already knows what to do when the time comes–– making sure his older brother, Josh Aquino, will be well taken care of just like how his mom has consistently reminded him.

“My mom has always ingrained in me that when she’s gone, I have to be the one to take care of my brother because you know and everyone really told me na when your mom’s gone, you really have to be the one to step up and make sure that he’s okay,” he said.

Previously, Kris opened up about the condition of her health and shared how she’s received immunosuppressants to help manage the autoimmune diseases which she’ll need to take for life.

“Ang immunosuppressant means wala kang panlaban sa mga sakit pero yung mga masasamang autoimmune na sobra sobra, pinapatay naman niya,” she explained.
