Kris Aquino opens up about relationship with the Marcos family
MANILA — Kris Aquino expressed her admiration to First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos as she clarified her relationship with the Marcoses.
“I was very, very surprised na a year ago, actually, when I had lunch for the very first time with the First Lady, you know, she is so smart. Na makinig ka lang sa kanya marami kang matututunan and then she was just describing her summer spent in Luisita and saying ‘You were not even born, you are not even in your mom’s stomach. And I would be there,'” Aquino said in an interview with Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
When asked why Mrs. Marcos was in Luisita, Aquino said: “My mom’s oldest brother, his wife, is the sister of her mom. No, we’re not cousins. It’s just by affinity, ‘yun ang tawag nila. Cousin siya ng first cousins ko. She is their first cousins. But because the Cojuangcos are very clannish, so their relatives are invited.”
“They’ve been very respectful. Hindi ginustong tanggalin Ninoy International Airport. Siguro ang pinakahumanga ako, the President has fought for the West Philippines Sea. Siguro kasi for me that’s Noy’s legacy. And the fact that he is fighting for that as well. They’re fighting for the Philippines,” she added.
YouTube/GMA NetworkAquino also revealed that the First Lady’s former law firm was the one who handled her annulment.
“We’ve gotten together three or four more times, and she’s funny. She actually handled my annulment. Yes, hindi ba M.O.S.T. It’s Marcos, Ochoa, Serapio, Tan. I saw her twice when I was in their offices,” Aquino said.
Marcoses family are known to be the political rivals of Aquinos.
Last August, the Palace said relations between the First Lady and Aquino are good, after the First Lady posted a photo of her with the host-actress and her sons Josh and Bimby on social media, saying she felt blessed.
