Marcos to meet MILF leader Murad Ebrahim in November

MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to meet with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chief Al Haj Murad Ebrahim in November, Malacañang said on Thursday, as Bangsamoro groups clamor for the Chief Executive to have a dialogue with the Mindanaoan leader before the end of the month.

“Sa ngayon po, wala pa pong exact na date kung kailan iyong pagpupulong, most probably, ito po ay baka po second week of November,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a press briefing in Bukidnon.

“It’s either bago mag-ASEAN or matapos ang ASEAN, ganoon po ang ipinapalagay na maaaring maging schedule ng kanilang pagpupulong,” she said.

Bangsamoro groups have been urging the President to tackle an exit agreement, which is needed in completing the peace process between the Philippine government and the decommissioned former rebel group.

The President is expected instead to attend the first session of the Bangsamoro Parliament in Cotabato City on October 30.
