Ate Gay’s family appeals against fake death reports

The family of Ate Gay has appealed to the public to stop circulating false reports about the comedian’s death, stressing that she remains alive and is still fighting for her life.

In a social media post on October 31, the family said they had been receiving messages expressing condolences and offering sympathy following misleading claims about Ate Gay’s condition.

“We have been receiving messages saying ‘Rest in Peace’ and ‘Condolences’ regarding our beloved Ate Gay, along with false and misleading information circulating on social media,” they began.

“PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT HE IS STILL ALIVE AND CONTINUES TO FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE.”

They also urged everyone to verify information before sharing it and to avoid making premature announcements or spreading fake news about Ate Gay’s condition.

They added: “Please do not speak on behalf of our family or make assumptions about a situation you do not fully understand.”

“Imagine being in our position. How would you feel if someone sent you condolences while your loved one was still alive and fighting? Our family is already going through an incredibly difficult time, and these messages only add unnecessary pain and emotional distress.”

They warned that they would take appropriate action against individuals and pages that continue to publish or circulate false information about the comedian’s supposed passing.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the family said they continue to hold on to their faith and asked the public to remain compassionate and respectful.

“We know that God knows everything, and we continue to place our faith and trust in His plans. We hope everyone will show the same faith, compassion, and respect for our family.”

“Please do not take away someone’s hope while they are still fighting. Do not add to a family’s suffering by spreading information that is not true. At this moment, all we ask for is your understanding, respect, and continued prayers for Ate Gay,” the maintained.

The family of Ate Gay reiterated that they should be the ones to provide updates about their loved one and asked the public to rely only on her official Facebook page for verified information.

“LET THE FAMILY SPEAK FOR THEIR LOVED ONE. PLEASE RESPECT OUR FAMILY AND THE LIFE THAT IS STILL FIGHTING.”

The family’s latest appeal follows their update on October 30 about Ate Gay’s hospitalization and medical condition.

According to their earlier statement, the comedian was brought to the emergency room of Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) on October 17 after experiencing difficulty breathing.

Following medical assessment, Ate Gay was diagnosed with septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors continued to monitor and treat her condition.

The family previously shared that Ate Gay had overcome her initial bout of septic shock, based on the latest assessment from her attending physicians.

“Batay sa pinakahuling paliwanag ng kanyang mga attending physicians, na patuloy na nagmo-monitor sa kanyang vital signs at sa paggana ng kanyang mga organ, nalampasan na po ni Ate Gay ang unang septic shock na kanyang naranasan,” they said.

However, on October 29, Ate Gay suffered a stroke that damaged the right side of her brain.

“Sa kasalukuyan, umaasa pa rin siya sa mga life-support machine upang masuportahan ang mahahalagang function ng kanyang katawan. Nananatili pong kritikal at guarded ang kanyang kondisyon,” her family said.

With her continued hospitalization resulting in significant medical expenses, the family considered transferring her to another medical facility. Her doctors, however, advised against the move because of her fragile condition. Ate Gay remains in the ICU for continued treatment and observation.

Her loved ones have also sought assistance from government agencies, private individuals, charitable institutions, and other organizations to help cover the costs of her medical care.
