Happy birthday, Direk! Coco Martin gets double birthday surprises, heartwarming messages from his “Sigabo” family

Aside from the success of his well-loved character Gabo in his first-ever mission as a taxi driver-slash-undercover agent in “Sigabo,” avid viewers of the series have another reason to celebrate—the birthday of its beloved lead actor and director, Coco Martin, on November 1!

Thus, to celebrate the wonderful and inspiring life of the “Hari ng Aksyon sa Ating Henerasyon,” his CCM Film Productions family made sure he would feel the outpouring of their love and appreciation by preparing surprise celebrations for him on two separate sets of the show, as seen in a couple of reels uploaded on its official Facebook page.

The production unit headed by Director Malu Sevilla surprised Coco with two ube birthday cakes when he visited the NCIA office, along with lively renditions of the “Happy Birthday” song. Meanwhile, the staff, crew, and actors under the production unit of Director Richard Somes also made sure not to be outdone, as they prepared a grand surprise feast for Coco in Ginintuang Lupa. Among those who were part of the celebration was none other than his dear reel-and-real-life partner, Julia Montes, whom he sweetly kissed on the lips.

And on his birthday, CCM Film Productions released a special, fun, and touching birthday tribute video for Direk Coco, in which some of the cast members showed their hilarious, witty, and sweet sides—personalities that viewers don’t often get to see on TV and that may be quite different from their respective characters in “Sigabo.” The video commenced with the production team having the actors play the exhilarating popular children’s party game, “Longest Happy Birthday.”

Among those who shared their heartwarming messages were Chanda Romero, Jhong Hilario, Joko Diaz, Ihman Esturco, JC de Vera, Carmi Martin, Marc Solis, JM de Guzman, Art Acuña, Via Antonio, Tess Antonio, John Medina, Katherine Luna, Bassilyo, Eric “Eruption” Tai, Mammoth Estroso, Pinky Tobiano, Efren Reyes, Lito Camo, Irma Adlawan, Joey Marquez, Julio Diaz, and his real-life brothers, Ryan Martin and Ron Martin.

“Happy birthday, Direk Coco! Thank you for being such a blessing to all of us, thank you for sharing your talent, your love most of all,” said Chanda, who portrays the antagonist Deborah Zafra.

Meanwhile, Tess, who amuses viewers as Twinkle, couldn’t help but get emotional as she expressed her gratitude to Coco. She stated, “Nagpapasalamat po kami sa inyo. Mahal kita, mahal po kayo ng pamilya ko. Salamat talaga po. All the best, Direk Coco, and nawa’y humaba pa po ng humaba ang ating ‘Sigabo’!”

Julio, who takes on the role of Gabo’s uncle, Dante, couldn’t be more grateful to Coco for the times he had helped him. He related, “Isa lang masasabi ko sa’yo, you really mean so much to me. Ang ganda-ganda ng mga timing mo tuwing ako ay nadadapa. Sana maintindihan mo ‘yong mga pangyayari ko sa buhay at ‘yon ay ipinagpapasalamat ko sa’yo.”

Her character, Betchay may tend to be spiteful toward Gabo, but Irma showed her affectionate side through her message to Coco. She conveyed, “We always pray that you’ll be kept safe from any harm and you will be kept healthy from any sickness and you will be kept happy as always, and at peace.”

Coco’s younger brother, Ron, kept his birthday greeting short but sweet, saying, “Kuya, happy, happy birthday sa’yo! Salamat sa lahat ng tulong at gabay mo. Mahal na mahal kita. I love you!”

Happy birthday and more power, Direk Coco!
