However, working on their latest film, “Remember,” gave the couple an opportunity to enjoy more quality time together, with filming in Canada also allowing them some time away from their children.
During a recent interview on “KC After Hours,” the YouTube show hosted by broadcast journalist Karmina Constantino, Dantes shared that he has been enjoying the promotional activities for their family romance drama, which is set to hit local cinemas on November 11.
“Para sa’kin ‘yong part na ‘yon (press tour) isa sa pinakamasaya kasi talagang mas nakakasama ko siya. Sa shooting nga, medyo hindi pa kami nagsasama. May mga araw na wala siya,” Dantes said.
Rivera explained that she and Dantes had been juggling multiple commitments, leaving them both with busy schedules.
“Lalo na siya sa ‘Master Cutter,’ parang three times a week tapos may ‘The Voice’ pa siya. Tapos ako naman kapag nasa bahay siya, ako naman ‘yong wala sa bahay,” the actress explained.
That’s why the two were able to somehow enjoy filming “Remember,” especially in Quebec.
“Kahit na shooting siya pero ‘yong feeling na, ‘Wow!,’ naglalakad kami sa kalye, nag-grocery kami. Pinagluluto niya ako, ganoon. Ang sarap. Parang noong araw, noong kaming dalawa pa lang,” said Dantes, who has two children with Rivera.
“Remember” marks the celebrity couple’s return to the big screen together following the blockbuster success of their 2023 film “Rewind.”
The film follows an estranged couple who are forced to pretend they are still together for the sake of their daughter, played by award-winning “Saving Grace” actress Zia Grace, who suffers from a medical condition that causes her memory to gradually fade.
The project also reunites the couple with “Rewind” director Mae Cruz-Alviar, whom they spoke highly of during the interview, with Dantes even describing her as “someone like family.”
“We co-create that together, pero siya, malinaw sa kaniya ‘yong ano ‘yong gusto niya makita sa umpisa at saka sa dulo so malaking bagay na nandoon talaga ‘yong buong tiwala namin sa isa’t isa, lalo na ‘yong tiwala namin sa kaniya dahil siya talaga ‘yong driver nito,” Dantes said of the director.
“We give a part of ourselves in each characters that we portray and siya lang makakapagpalabas noon. Kailangan ‘yong taong maglalabas noon sa’min ay pinagkakatiwalaan namin,” the actor added.
Rivera, meanwhile, said that although she and Cruz-Alviar had rarely seen each other since working on “Rewind,” their bond remained as strong as ever.
“The mere fact na nakita mo siya, kahit mahabang panahon kayong hindi nagkita, nandoon ‘yong connection, nandoon ‘yong love eh,” she said.
During the interview, the power showbiz couple also compared “Rewind” and “Remember,” shared insights into their acting process, and revealed how they decide which projects to take on together.
