Purple Yam’s CEO shares moments with stars at FAMAS
Oyos Mendoza attends FAMAS. HandoutPurple Yam has another sweet reason to celebrate, having grown from a family-run company in Ozamis City, Mindanao, to a steadily expanding Filipino success story.
In recognition of his entrepreneurial leadership and contribution to the expansion of Filipino enterprise, Oyos Mendoza, the founder and CEO of Purple Yam, recently received his first FAMAS Prestige Leadership Excellence Award for Filipino Enterprise Development.
As Purple Yam continues to spread throughout the country and provide more Filipino families with its proudly Pinoy dessert creations, Mendoza finds particular significance in the recognition.
What started out as a modest family business has developed into a growing brand renowned for its distinctive ube treats and cutting-edge products, such as its most recent pistachio line.
Celebrity endorsers Pokwang and online sensation Jeo Ong of OngFam have added star power to the Purple Yam family.
In the meantime, comedian Pooh is establishing himself outside of the entertainment industry as the Head of Marketing at Purple Yam — a position that gives him yet another feather in his cap.
Mendoza is thankful and grounded despite the brand’s ongoing success and recognition.
“I am not the only recipient of this award. It’s for my family, our diligent Purple Yam team, and everyone who has supported us from the start. In Ozamis, we began with a modest dream, and witnessing that dream grow is already a blessing. We are motivated to work even harder and make more Filipinos proud by this recognition,” Oyos said.
