Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/FileMANILA — The Bacoor City Police Station is investigating a police personnel who allegedly made insensitive remarks about the remains of dogs and cats, drawing criticism from fur parents on social media.
In a viral post, the police officer was quoted as saying, “Anong gusto niyo malaman, kung ang abo ay pusa o dinosaur?” followed by laughter, in response to concerns over the alleged improper disposal of animal remains.
The remarks drew outrage from pet owners, who questioned how a police officer could make light of a situation involving the loss of beloved pets.
In a statement, Bacoor Component City Police Station chief Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito said she had immediately directed investigators to establish the facts and identify the personnel allegedly involved.
“No form of misconduct, disrespectful remarks, or unprofessional behavior will be tolerated,” the statement read.
“All police personnel are expected to uphold discipline, proper decorum, respect, and professionalism, both in the performance of official duties and in personal interactions, including on social media.”
The Bacoor police urged complainants and individuals with relevant information or supporting evidence to coordinate with the station to help in the investigation and possible filing of administrative charges.
Desamito assured that any personnel found responsible would be held accountable under existing PNP rules and regulations, with due process observed.
“The uniform we wear represents public trust, and every police personnel must act in a manner worthy of that trust,” she said.
The investigation comes amid public concern over the alleged improper disposal of dog and cat remains in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
