This was higher than the 7.2 percent rate seen in September. It was also within the 7.1 to 8.1 percent forecast range of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
October was marked by hikes in power rates, fuel prices, as well as the depreciation of the peso.
The BSP already hiked interest rates by 50 basis points in its last meeting last month to try to tame inflation. Some analysts expect the central bank to implement another rate hike before the end of the year, with inflation unlikely to settle back to the 2 to 4 percent target range sset by economic managers.
