On Thursday, the streaming service released a trailer for the series, which follows two detectives who join forces to investigate a string of gruesome murders across national borders.
The two-minute trailer opens with a young girl being abducted by an unidentified assailant inside a deserted building, followed by the discovery of a body with grotesquely contorted limbs.
As the investigation unfolds, Kim Seok (played by Suk-ku), a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, proposes joining forces with Inose (Eita), a Tokyo police detective, to solve the case.
The trailer also shows a mysterious man listening to the eerie sound of cracking bones through headphones, raising questions about his possible involvement in the murders. It also introduces other characters the detective duo encounters during their investigation.
The series is directed by Han Jun-hee, known for directing and co-writing the military drama “D.P.,” which also starred Suk-ku.
“The Blue Road” adds to Suk-ku’s list of crime and mystery projects, which includes “A Killer Paradox” and “Nine Puzzles.” He is also known for his roles in the slice-of-life drama “My Liberation Notes” and romantic fantasy series “Heavenly Ever After.”
Meanwhile, international audiences may recognize Eita for his starring role in the acclaimed 2023 coming-of-age film “Monster.”
