Who Is Gehlee Dangca? 10 Things to Know About the First K-Pop Idol Housemate on ‘Pinoy Big Brother’

Gehlee Dangca is among the housemates who have dominated social media feeds in recent weeks following the premiere of Pinoy Big Brother: Collab 3.0.

Known as the “Darling K-pop Idol of Las Piñas,” Gehlee has attracted a growing number of fans through her stint in the PBB house. With her charming personality and relatable presence, she is also poised to gain even more popularity, particularly among Filipino audiences.

While many have become familiar with her journey in the K-pop scene over the past few years, not everyone knows how she first entered the South Korean entertainment industry before making a name for herself in the Philippines.

As curiosity about her background and career continues to grow, here are 10 things to know about Gehlee Dangca, Pinoy Big Brother’s first-ever K-pop idol housemate.

Gehlee Gimena Dangca, popularly known as Gehlee, was born in Pasig City but grew up in Las Piñas, where she currently resides. Born on August 19, 2007, she is 19 years old as of 2026.

Before entering the Pinoy Big Brother house, Gehlee was also active on social media, particularly Instagram, where she shares updates and glimpses of her personal life through her account, @gehlee_dangca.

Gehlee is the daughter of Sahlee Grace and Gerard Dangca. Some fans have speculated that her name may have been inspired by the common Filipino tradition of combining parts of both parents’ names, possibly explaining how she got the name Gehlee.

She also has two brothers named Third and Galvin.

Before pursuing her dream of becoming a K-pop idol in South Korea, Gehlee attended schools in the Philippines, including San Beda College Alabang and St. Paul College Pasig.

She was also actively involved in school activities and programs. Among her notable achievements was earning the title of “Lakambini ng Wika” during a Buwan ng Wika celebration.

Gehlee took her first major step into the entertainment industry by moving to South Korea to pursue her dream of becoming a K-pop idol. Her breakthrough came when she joined Universe Ticket, a South Korean survival reality show where she represented the Philippines.

After weeks of competition, Gehlee secured the fourth spot in the show’s final lineup, earning her a place in the multinational girl group UNIS.

At just 16 years old, the Filipino contestant garnered an impressive 2.4 million votes, reflecting the strong support she received from viewers and fans throughout the competition.

Following her successful run on Universe Ticket, Gehlee officially joined UNIS, the multinational girl group formed through the survival competition, which primarily promotes in South Korea and Japan.

She made her debut alongside fellow contestants Hyeonju, Nana, Kotoko, Yunha, Elisia, Yoona, and Seowon on March 27, 2024, with the release of the group’s first extended play (EP), We UNIS. Within the group, Gehlee took on the roles of sub-vocalist and sub-rapper.

UNIS continued its activities until September 26, 2026, when the group disbanded following the conclusion of its contract term, with its members moving on to pursue their individual careers.

One of the notable aspects of Gehlee’s journey with UNIS was sharing the group with fellow Filipina member Elisia and Hyeonju, who is of South Korean and Filipino descent.

Throughout their time as a group, particularly during promotions in the Philippines, the three members have consistently embraced their Filipino heritage and proudly represented the country on the international stage.

Their connection has also extended beyond their group activities. Elisia, in particular, showed her support for Gehlee as she entered the Pinoy Big Brother house.

Before finding fame in the entertainment industry, Gehlee had already gained experience in the spotlight by joining various beauty pageants, from mall competitions to school-based pageants.

Following UNIS’ disbandment, Gehlee embarked on a new chapter in her music career as a solo artist. She officially made her solo debut on October 23, 2026, with the release of her digital single “Closer” under Universal Records Philippines.

The track explores the feelings that come with developing a romantic interest in someone, capturing the excitement and nervousness of wanting to grow closer to that special person.

In several livestreams during her time as a K-pop idol, Gehlee opened up about her interests and hobbies, which range from drawing, listening to music, to playing video games, reading, singing, and expressing herself through makeup.

Beyond these activities, she has also shared her passion for digital art and expressed her desire to try painting someday.

While Gehlee has been attracting considerable attention for her current stint inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, her popularity online dates back to her early days in the entertainment industry.

During her time on Universe Ticket, several of her appearances, from her initial audition to her group performances, gained traction online, with many of the videos accumulating millions of views throughout the competition.

Her popularity was further highlighted when SBS Entertainment released a compilation of her memorable moments from the survival show.

Titled “UNIS’s Own Aura Queen 👑 Gehlee Dangca, the Real-Life Disney Princess! Best Moments Compilation,” the video has garnered 1.8 million views as of this writing, reflecting the attention she received even before entering the PBB house.
