Park Bo-gum is now a licensed hairdresser
South Korean actor Park Bo-gum has added another skill to his growing list of credentials after passing the national technical qualification exam for general hairdressing on his second attempt.
According to The Korea Times, Bo-gum recently earned his qualification in general hairdressing, ahead of the return of his reality show The Village Barber 2 this November.
The achievement is particularly notable given the difficulty of the examination, which reportedly has an average passing rate of only 20 to 30 percent.
Bo-gum’s journey toward becoming a licensed hairdresser began during the first season of The Village Barber. Despite preparing for the examination while managing his busy schedule, he did not pass the practical portion on his initial attempt.
However, he continued honing his skills while preparing for the show’s second season and fulfilling his other commitments. His persistence eventually paid off as he successfully passed the exam on his next try.
This is not Bo-gum’s first professional qualification in the field. He previously obtained a national barbering license while completing his military service.
His latest achievement is expected to give him more opportunities to showcase his skills when the program returns.
The Village Barber 2 will follow Bo-gum and his celebrity friends as they run a hair salon in a quiet seaside village. Beyond giving customers new hairstyles, the cast also builds connections with the people who visit their shop.
Actor Lee Sang-yi, who was part of the first season, will return, while Ko Kyung-pyo joins the group as a new cast member.
A teaser released in late October also gave viewers a first look at the show’s new location. It featured Bo-gum arriving at the seaside workplace, with the ocean and sunlight providing a scenic backdrop. The new salon was also introduced, featuring flowering vines that add to its distinct atmosphere.
With his latest qualification, viewers can look forward to seeing Bo-gum as the more skilled Director Park when The Village Barber 2 premieres on tvN this November.
