Marcos Jr. meets with real estate sector, pushes for more affordable housing

Handout/PCOMANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. discussed the current challenges and opportunities in the real estate sector as he pushed for ways to make housing more affordable to Filipinos.
Marcos Jr. presided over a “special meeting” with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Infrastructure Sector Group–Real Estate on Tuesday, September 22.
“Tinalakay sa pulong ang mga hakbang para gawing mas abot-kaya ang pabahay, mapahusay ang property valuation, at palakasin ang pamumuhunan at paglago ng sektor,” the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement.
Only a few details from the meeting were released to the media.
Malacañang regards the real estate industry as one of the country’s major drivers of economic growth through job creation and local development.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said earlier in the day that the agenda included the Balanced Housing Development Program Amendments and Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act.
She added that Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, and DEPDev Secretary Arsenio Balisacan were expected to attend the meeting, among others.
Several key private sector officials and real estate moguls were also expected to attend, including PSAC Strategic Convener Sabin Aboitiz, Alliance Global Incorporated President and CEO Kevin Tan, as well as representatives from Ayala Corporation, Ayala Land Incorporated, Robinsons Land Corporation, and SM Prime Holdings, Incorporated.
