EXCLUSIVE: Jason Dy teases new album, looks back on Eurovision Asia PH experience

Kapamilya singer Jason Dy is set to return with new music as he begins work on his upcoming album under Star Music.

In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN during the Cornerstone Artist Lab intimate gig, Jason shared that he is currently in the early stages of preparing his next album.

“Yes, we’re in the early stages of preparing for my next album with Star Music so we are collecting some of the songs na masasama sa sa album,” he said.

The singer is also looking forward to being more involved in the creative process, revealing that he has been writing his own material while working with other songwriters for the project.

“I’m also writing myself and collaborating with other songwriters and hopefully ma work out namin yung other collaborations din and so maraming new music na lalabas very soon,” he added.

While he looks forward to the next chapter of his music career, Jason also took the time to look back on another milestone as being part of the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia Philippines selection night.

Jason said he was grateful for the opportunity to be part of the historic event: “Sobrang thankful ako that I became a part of this year’s inaugural, first ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia here in the Philippines. Grabe yung experience kasi we got to work with Eurovision team, from Europe talaga and iba din yung style nila ng work nila, iba din yung flow, iba yung energy so I learn a lot from the experience also and also collaborating with Sasa, who’s also a very talented artist herself, so ang saya naging experience namin.”

Beyond the performances, Jason said one of the things he treasured most from the competition was the bond he formed with the other artists and songwriters.

“Parang nase-sepanx nga kami kasi yung mga ibang ano din, mga ibang finalist din we’ve become very close to this whole experience, tapos lagi kaming magkakasama, lagi kaming nagbobonding and so we miss each other talaga, and we are really, we had so much fun,” he shared.

Jason also expressed his support for Carmelle Collado, who was chosen to represent the Philippines in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia in Thailand this November.

“If my schedule permits, why not di ba? Siyempre gusto natin suportahan yung mga official entry natin di ba? So, I’m sure Carmelle is gonna do a great job, she’s gonna kill her performance there sa Thailand, so excited kami lahat for Carmelle,” Jason said.

Aside from celebrating new milestones in his own career, Jason has also been enjoying the achievements of his fellow artists, including close friend and OPM singer Yeng Constantino.

Jason shared how proud he was of Yeng as she celebrated her anniversary concert series.

“Noong show niya pala dito sa Araneta, I told her, I was talking to her about this, sabi ko, ‘Friend, sobrang proud na proud na proud na proud ako sa’yo. Paglabas mo palang, time in pa lang, yung opening song mo palang naiiyak na ako sa proud.’ I was super proud of her,” Jason recalled.

Jason eventually got to share the stage with Yeng when she invited him as a guest for her Cebu concert, making the celebration even more special for the longtime friends.

“The show was so good, napakaganda nung show, napakagaling ni Direk John (Prats). Sobrang tuwang tuwa ako and happy na ako, just a fan and just a friend to watch her perform live. Noong ininvite niya ako to be a guest sa Cebu, I was even more happy to be part of the show,” he said.

For Jason, the experience felt less like a formal performance and more like spending time with a close friend while doing what they both love.

“Sobrang happy ko and para lang kaming… we were just hanging out as friends na may kasamang performing, of course, sa aming work. But, you know, I’m just really happy for her. I’m super proud of her kasi napakasuccessful noong show and I’m just so happy to be part of it,” he added.
