Agot Isidro reflects on career longevity as she enjoys ‘most prolific’ year at 60

MANILA — Actress Agot Isidro admitted she once worried about getting fewer projects as she grew older, but at 60, she has had her most “prolific“ year yet.

“Before ha, I’m talking about before—medyo youth-centric sila. Gusto nila mga romance or family drama, kailangan nag-headline medyo bata. Meron kang, ‘Magkaka-trabaho pa kaya ako?’ But then, in the end, lahat ng kuwento may senior—nanay, tita. Merong roles for people and women my age,” she said in an interview held in Quezon City.  

Among her projects released in 2026 were the films “Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon,” “Mag-iina,” “Filipiñana,” and “Patay Gutom.” She is also part of the upcoming Netflix original series “Balaraw: Blood Island.”

“Ito na pinaka prolific year ko. Hindi lahat ginawa this year. Yung ‘Balaraw’ since last year. Yun ‘Ganito…’ this year first quarter, ‘Patay Gutom’ and ‘Mag-iina.’ Yung ‘Elaine…’ mga 2024 naman,” she recalled. 

Isidro believes her “openness” to taking on diverse roles helped her land more projects and sustain her longevity in the industry.

“Hindi ko na-realize ang dami ko na nagawa. Game lang ako ng game. The openess to work. Hindi ako mapili sa trabaho gusto ko lang nagtatrabaho. When people recognize the willingness and openess. That openness really helped me get projects,” she reasoned.  

Isidro also credited her 20-year partnership with manager Shirley Kuan as another key to her enduring career.

“Dapat open lines ang communication. Especially pag ganyan nag cross na personal and professional. Sa 20 years never siya nakialam… Hindi kami madalas nagkita ni SK pero meron kami always kamustahan period. Basta klaro proseso at communication, walang problema,” she noted.

“Hindi siya nakikialam, promise! I have gone through a separation—pero supportive lang siya. Kung ano kumportable ako doon siya.”
