Celebrities share their favorite memories with their grandparents growing up

Some of the country’s busiest celebrities took time out to share their love for family, especially with their grandmothers and grandfathers, by sharing their most unforgettable memories with them growing up. They also talk about why they will always feel connected to them, even if some have already passed away.

Marian Rivera

Atasha Muhlach

“Oh my goodness, I love my lola so much! My favorite memory is that she would always take me and Andres out to watch a movie in the cinemas all the time and she would bring us around the mall and we would eat together. It’s a very, very good memory.”

Michelle Dee

“I actually only got to build a relationship with my grandmother on my father’s side. I credit her for so much of my wisdom, so much of my knowledge and respect for life, and just how energy works. She did pass away in 2013 and you know, if there’s one memory of her that always sticks to me, it’s a memory when I was a kid when I was six and she sat next to me. She held my hand and I felt so much love and care even when she thought I was asleep.”

Jed Madela

“My grandfather, hindi ko na siya naabutan. But then when I saw photos of him, sobrang kamukhang kamukha ko siya, as in sobrang tinatawag nilang xerox copy talaga ako niya (laughs). He’s just a little bit taller than me. He’s 6’2 while I’m 5’11 but we look the same. Sabi ng mom ko we talk the same and yun lang yung alaala ko sa kanya is through photos. But my lola naman, one thing I can’t forget is her cooking. We call her Lola Darling and we even go to our province every Sunday to just spend time with her and hindi ko makakalimutan yung kanyang pochero. Yun talaga yung pinakamasarap sa Tigbauan, Iloilo. Kasi half of my life nandun talaga ako.”

Vien King

“I have so many memories, but one of my favorites is when I was a kid, whenever my mom wouldn’t give me money, I’d go to my Lola instead. She was always willing to give it to me, as long as I sat and listened to her long stories first haha. And my Lolo, he was the one we’d run to every time we had a sprain, because he’s a manghihilot, a traditional healer. He was basically our built-in healer at home.”
