NCAA: Mapua zooms to sixth straight win, breezes past San Sebastian

Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines.MANILA — Mapua University zoomed to its sixth straight victory after breezing past San Sebastian College, 71-43, in NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball on Monday at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.

The Cardinals inched closer to a top-two spot in Group A despite opening their campaign with three straight losses, with Cyrus Cuenco leading the way with 25 points and three steals.

“Sobrang importante ng panalo na ‘to ngayon. Siyempre, going back sa group namin malaking bagay ‘to sa momentum namin,” said Cuenco, as Mapua completed a sweep of its crossover-phase assignments.

Also starring was Yam Concepcion, who posted 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals, who led by as many as 32 points.

The Golden Stags, on the other hand, remained winless through nine games.

Caesleyh Bacani was one of the few bright spots for San Sebastian with 12 points, while Ralph Gabat added 10.
