TXT’s Soobin takes scuba diving lessons in the Philippines

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) leader Choi Soobin took scuba diving lessons during his second visit to the Philippines this year.

The K-pop star documented his experience via a YouTube vlog as he worked toward earning his Open Water Diver certifications alongside his friend.

“Let’s enjoy the Philippines again. This time, our goal is to get our scuba diving certification,” Soobin stated.

Following his first training session, Soobin admitted that scuba diving was more challenging than he had initially expected.

“Our first training session is done. We’ll have lunch, then do the second session. This is no joke. It’s exhausting, and there’s more to do than I expected. There’s so much to memorize too,” he pointed out.

Soobin also opened up about the challenges he faced during training, particularly when practicing underwater skills in deeper water.

“We practiced taking our regulators out and putting them back in and taking our masks off and putting them back on. I did really well in shallow water where my feet touched the bottom but when we went down to deep water where they couldn’t every time I took off a piece of equipment I got scared and tensed up without realizing it,” he recounted.

“I’d breathe through my nose even though I wasn’t supposed to or my whole body would tense up before I knew it so it was dangerous.  But I’ll do my best. I came here to overcome it,” he added.

As his training progressed, Soobin successfully completed his first dive and shared that they had reached a depth of approximately 17 meters.

“I just finished my first dive.  When he showed us the gauge earlier, it was around 17 meters. But he showed it after we’d come up a bit,” the singer shared.

After completing all three dives, the K-pop star expressed how proud he was of overcoming his fear of deep water and accomplishing something he had never imagined doing.

“Done diving for today. We finished all three dives. I kept worrying, ‘What if I don’t get my certification?’ right up until we came here. Somehow, so I’m very proud of myself now. I mean, for someone who’s afraid of water to be down that deep. I’m so proud of myself for swimming around all by myself like that I never thought I’d do anything like this in my life,” he highlighted.

Reflecting on the experience, Soobin described the activity as another personal achievement.

“It feels good to know I’ve accomplished something else I feel like I completed another challenge,” Soobin remarked.
