MANILA (UPDATED) — The Palace once again justified the P50 million bounty for Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who remains in hiding to evade an arrest that will send him to the International Criminal Court.

Dela Rosa’s camp earlier slammed the bounty, saying it is a massive waste of money in implementing a warrant that was not issued by a local court.

Castro said the ICC warrant against Dela Rosa is valid and enforceable.

Castro said the “no mercy” hunt for Dela Rosa continues, with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) still at the helm.

Castro clarified the bounty will come from the intel and confidential funds of DILG, not from the President.

Castro also responded to critics saying the bounty could have been better used for El Niño response.

BATO’S WIFE RESPONDS

In a social media post, dela Rosa’s wife Nancy, expressed her feelings on the recent issues of the Senator.

“Thank you for helping me realize that there are millions who still believe and support him. I just pray that the powerful few, who were also his friends, would come to realize he is not their enemy nor the enemy of this state,” she said.

“Please do not use him for your personal agenda. He has helped you in countless ways and he has done you no wrong personally. He needs your help, not your persecution,” she added.

In a statement, Castro said she respected the feelings of the wife, but corrected some of her allegations.
