EXCLUSIVE: ‘Lumpia Queen’ Abi Marquez turns her love for food into a jewelry charm collection
Food content creator Abi Marquez, popularly known as the “Lumpia Queen,” is bringing her love for food and everything in the kitchen beyond her cooking videos into a collection of personal and relatable jewelry charms.
In collaboration with Gabbie Jewelry, Abi launched 12 charms inspired by her personality, favorite food, and everyday kitchen essentials. She shared that the idea came from wanting to find another way to express her love for food outside the kitchen.
“So, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. And I think a lot of people would relate to this, pero personality ko pala is magpagkain. I cannot stop thinking and talking about food. And so, I’ve always been in the search for something that I can express my personality or self with outside of the kitchen,” Abi explained to
She went on: “And so, fan talaga ako ng mga, pag nakakita ko ng t-shirt na food theme or pants na food theme, I will buy that. And so, when I wanted to be able to serve people with the same thing, jewelry is just an easy answer because you can wear it anywhere, anywhere outside of the kitchen.”
For Abi, however, the charms are more than just cute accessories. She hopes they can also serve as little reminders of a person’s identity, culture, and shared experiences with others.
“So you can bring a tiny piece of you, a piece of your culture. And it’s such a nice way to also, like, gift or give to someone that you can reminisce together. Like, ‘remember na tayo na, we share this rice cooker or banana ketchup person ka and ako naman suka person.’ So, these charms, they’re not just cute and adorable designs, but they really come with a story that starts a conversation. And so, I am a really big fan of that. So, I hope that’s what people take with these charms,” she expressed.
With a jewelry charms collection, what type of jewelry does Abi love to wear?
“I am an earring and talaga pin din [na person]. Kasi that’s what you can wear in the kitchen. Kasi, we were taught you can’t wear stuff in your hands or in here (sa arms and neck) in the kitchen. But, when I’m doing events or showing up, then I would bring out the necklaces and the bracelets. But, in the kitchen, I can only wear my earrings,” Abi said.
Abi also expressed her happiness seeing friends and fellow food content creators enjoy the 12-piece collection during its launch.
“I’m really, like, so happy. Because this is exactly one of the things that I want this charm to do, is to bring people who love food together. And we invited some of my closest creator friends, and also the foodies that we know, to be able to share with them this new thing that they can express themselves with,” Abi said.
She added that seeing guests connect over the different designs made the experience even more special.
“I’m such a big fan of the people in this room and ang saya lang isipin na, by the end of this event, we’ll be wearing Siomai Rice Charm or Banana Ketchup Charm! And, you know, while in the booth, where they can craft their own five-piece charm chain, there’s already conversations going on (with the attendees). It’s so cute! So nice!” she stated.
The collection features 12 designs inspired by Abi’s world of food, including kitchen essentials such as a rice cooker and a knife; favorite food items like calamansi, garlic, siomai, and lumpia; and condiments such as spiced vinegar, salt, pepper, and ketchup. Completing the collection are two personal pieces that represent Abi herself: a pair of eyeglasses and a chef hat.
