Solenn and Erwan Heussaff mourn death of father Louis

Solenn and Erwan Heussaff are grieving the loss of their father, Louis Paul Heussaff, who passed away on October 31.

Their mother, Cynthia, announced the news through an Instagram post, sharing that Louis died in the morning, following his battle with dementia, a neurological condition which can affect memory and other cognitive abilities.

“After struggling with dementia over the past few years, he passed away this morning, October 31 2026,” Cynthia wrote.

“While the last few years have been difficult, we hope that those who knew and loved him will remember him for the person he was, keep his spirited tales alive and cherish their happiest memories of him.

With all our love,

Cynthia, Vanessa, Solenn, and Erwan,” she added.

Following the announcement, several personalities from the entertainment industry sent messages of sympathy and condolences to the Heussaff family, including Ruffa Gutierrez, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson, Iza Calzado, Heart Evangelista, and Liz Uy, among others.

Solenn also shared a personal tribute to her father on Instagram, posting a photo of herself embracing him and accompanying it with a red heart.

Erwan, meanwhile, reposted his mother’s announcement on his Instagram Story, featuring a portrait of Louis and adding a brief message: “Free.”

Even before his passing, Solenn had found a way to honor her father through her art. In July, she unveiled a new collection of paintings titled “Into the Unseen Garden,” which included a particularly personal work inspired by Louis.

In an interview with INQUIRER Entertainment, Solenn identified the painting titled “Where the Hortensias Sing” as her favorite from the collection, explaining how it reflected her father’s condition and his connection to a flower he had always loved.

“Actually, this is my favorite (points to the painting behind her). Actually, the inspiration is my dad. So basically it’s called ‘Where the Hortensias Sing.’ It’s very [personal to me], because it signifies that life is constantly moving. Everything shifts in life,” Solenn explained.

She then shared that Louis could no longer recognize her and her siblings because of dementia. The painting featured a blurred pink area representing the hortensia, also known as the hydrangea, which was her father’s favorite flower.

“My father has dementia now, so he doesn’t recognize me and my siblings. But his favorite flower has always been the hortensia, which is blurred here. It’s the pink area, because I wanted this to be like a tribute to him. And it’s just kind of shows that, you know, life is always moving and you just need to accept the things that happen and the things that that are given to you,” she shared.

The painting became a way for Solenn to hold on to a part of her father’s story, even as their family navigated the changes brought about by his condition.

Louis was originally from Brittany, France, and previously served as a sailor in the French Navy. He later headed a company that provided services to the oil and gas industry.

In 2025, Solenn also gave her followers a glimpse of their family memories when she posted nostalgic photographs of Louis with their loved ones in celebration of his 79th birthday.
