EXCLUSIVE: Kyline Alcantara on why she chooses to stay single now: ‘I just got hurt so much’

After calling it quits with basketball player Kobe Paras last year after less than a year of dating, actress Kyline Alcantara has not wavered in staying true to her decision of staying single this year. After attending this year’s Opulence Ball called The New Nocturnals last October 29, Kyline shared with PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview how her heart is still in the process of healing. 

“Well, you can say that it’s a conscious effort on my part (to keep a low profile on my personal life). But honestly, I’m not dating anybody right now. I’m not even entertaining anybody. I guess, maybe I’m too young to say this, but I just got so tired of the whole cycle of you know, getting to know someone and blah, blah, blah. I just got hurt so much, and that’s why I don’t want to date for now,” she admitted. 

The 24-year-old actress explained that even though she has never felt constrained when she is in a relationship, she is definitely enjoying the added perks of not being in a relationship with anyone. Kyline admitted she has not decided when she will open her heart again in the foreseeable future as well. “Oh I will always have freedom. Siguro, I love the extra freedom, I guess. I will always have freedom but mas iba pag single kasi hindi mo kailangan magpaalam and all that,” she added.  

In an interview with Boy Abunda earlier this year, Kyline opened up about not being ready to love again and focusing on moving on. “I know for a fact that I’m not ready now because I just… I’m not entertaining anybody. Siguro, I just got tired of the whole process of getting to know each other again–– the whole cycle of it. Kasi parang medyo natatakot na din ako masaktan ulit eh and masaktan din yung family ko. Kaya siguro ako mabilis ma-in love or just to give love that easily, it’s because I feel I have too much love to give. So, I just want to give it to people like, for example, my friends, my family, and then my special someone. Siguro kaya ganun,” she said. 

As she looks forward to more projects and blessings before closing out the year, Kyline celebrated Halloween by attending the star-studded The New Nocturnals event where she was a head-turner in her unique costume: her modern interpretation of the main robot character from Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis. 

“This is from a film from 1927 called Metropolis and my character’s name is Robot Maria. I chose this because it’s a landmark for a film. It’s almost like a century ago kaya ko siya pinili. I love dressing up and getting out of the box, thinking out of the box, and just dressing up. I really love playing characters,” she told PUSH ABS-CBN.
