“Unhinged and unforgettable”! Gian and Maki pick the best moments from their “GGV” guesting
Just as it takes the right words and emotions to make beautiful music, sometimes all you need is the right company to bring out your most unfiltered self. For Gen Z OPM favorites Gian Bernardino of Cup of Joe and Maki, that company was none other than Vice Ganda, as they let their fun and playful sides speak during their conversation with the Unkabogable Superstar in the latest episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
And because we wanted to know what the experience was like beyond what we saw on TV, ABS-CBN Studios caught up with Gian and Maki before and after their “GGV” taping.
Before he conquered the OPM scene, Gian was already a Vice Ganda fan, having grown up watching “It’s Showtime” and “GGV” during his teenage years. So, imagine how surreal it must have felt to finally be the one sitting in the famous “GGV” hot seat.
Gian was nervous just imagining himself in the same seat where he used to watch his favorite celebrities get interviewed, especially since Vice already knew a few things about him from their previous interactions. But the jitters won’t change the fact that this was a dream come true for him.
And while he had to mentally prepare himself for Meme’s juicy questions, Gian knew the interview would also come with lessons and realizations, thanks to Meme’s wisdom. Being friends with Meme, he knows she has a way of sharing eye-opening insights even in the middle of a “bardagulan” session.
Meanwhile, Maki thought he’d face Meme Vice alone, that’s why he felt relieved and even more excited when he learned that Gian would be joining him. Plus, he was looking forward to spending more time chatting with Vice, since they usually get to talk too briefly because of their busy schedules.
When asked about their favorite past “GGV” episodes, Gian picked that of Ethel Booba because of the comedienne’s hilarious quotable quotes, while Maki mentioned Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz’s episode, which was so memorable for someone who thought the loveteam was dating in real life. He also remembered Sarah’s admission that she had a crush on John Lloyd, and he hoped his own “GGV” moment wouldn’t turn into a similar confession session. Well, little did he know that was exactly what would happen when Gian revealed that he once had a crush on him.
So, how did the actual experience compare to their expectations? For Gian, only one word could describe it, “unhinged!” And he meant that in the best possible way, “It was exactly how I imagined it to be. Like, as a subscriber ng show na ito noong bata pa ako, talagang na-imagine ko na gano’n yung mangyayari ‘pag adult na ako and magkaroon ng opportunity na mag-guest.”
Maki then described the experience as “unforgettable,” because not only did he get to share it with his best friend, but he also got to bond with Meme Vice.
When asked which part of the episode was their favorite, Gian went for the unexpected tea and the little dose of heartfelt reminders from Vice, particularly when they talked about painful experiences in love. Maki, meanwhile, picked their impromptu songwriting session, where they got so creative that they even managed to come up with a song.
