Authorities recover more animal remains in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
MANILA — Authorities and an animal welfare group discovered nearly 30 sacks and plastic bags containing the remains of animals in three separate areas in Barangay Gaya-Gaya, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
The discovery was made by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and animal welfare group Luna and Furry Siblings at around 4 p.m.
According to the animal welfare group, as many as 120 dogs and cats may have been found at the dumpsite.
Some of the remains were already reduced to bones, while others were in advanced stages of decomposition.
Authorities completed their retrieval operations at around 8 p.m.
Unlike the animal remains found in Barangay Minuyan Proper last week, the sacks recovered in Gaya-Gaya had no labels or identification indicating the names or weight of the animals.
San Jose del Monte City Mayor Florida Robes condemned the disposal of the dead animals, describing the incident as inhumane.
Robes said the local government is coordinating with authorities to pursue appropriate action against a pet crematorium in Bacoor, Cavite, which has been implicated in the incident.
