EXCLUSIVE: UK group Holodek shares their dynamic as a duo; teases upcoming album
British musicians Craig and Owen of Holodek expressed how their previous experience has helped their dynamic as a duo. The two sat down in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN where they shared the musicality and journey they want to go through as they produce more music while being located in the Philippines.
Holodek previously released their debut album, Anywhere, back in 2024. The Philippine-based musicians are a multi-genre band which takes a wide range of influences from various genres across the globe.
The two met in the Philippines and they expressed how “something just clicked” after a few times of meeting each other which eventually led to them forming Holodek and the rest is history.
“Owen and I were like, well, let’s just say, let’s give it a year. Let’s give it one year and see how it goes and I think that was the agreement–– then everything went well and it’s been three years,” Craig expressed.
Both of them maintained that they only want the best for their duo and have been honest with the feedback they give to each other despite the conversation being difficult–– especially with the first album. Now that they’re preparing for the second album, Owen and Craig revealed that things have been much easier between them.
“You just have to be honest. If you’re not honest, then it’s just going to come up later, and it’s just going to be a problem later on. And it makes it harder to write, much harder, I would say. If you don’t like something or you don’t like this or this isn’t how you would want it to be, then writing for it, I find a lot more difficult,” Craig shared.
Holodek is set to release their latest single, “Style,” this November. The two expressed their excitement for their Filipino fans to listen to the new music they worked hard for and even gave a teaser for their upcoming album.
“On the next album, we have a guest Filipino singer singing in English, and we’re releasing the same song in a Tagalog version,” the duo teased.
For the British musicians, the Philippines and the Filipinos are what makes them enjoy staying in the country despite having no Filipino blood in them.
“I think people are just nicer than any other country I’ve visited in my travels, to be honest with you. And then obviously all the islands, that definitely helps as well. I think the beaches and everything here are a lot better than other countries nearby, for me anyway,” Owen ended.
