‘Jay Durias Reimagined: A Musical Tribute by South Border’ set for January 2027

Get ready to hear South Border’s biggest hits in a whole new way as Jay Durias Reimagined: A Musical Tribute by South Border arrives in January 2027. 

The upcoming show will celebrate South Border and Jay Durias’s contributions to OPM, whose distinct sound has helped shape the local music scene for more than three decades. 

The concert is scheduled for January 30, 2027, at 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

As the band’s songwriter, composer, and musical arranger, Jay has played a major role in creating its signature blend of R&B, soul, jazz, and pop. His work has produced some of South Border’s most recognizable songs, including “Rainbow,” “Kahit Kailan,” “Ikaw Nga,” “Love of My Life,” “Wherever You Are,” “Once Again,” “May Pag-ibig Pa Kaya?” and “Habang Atin Ang Gabi.” 

For the concert, these familiar tracks will be revisited through new arrangements and performances that offer a closer look at the stories and inspirations behind the music. 

Joining Jay onstage are former South Border frontman Luke Mejares, as well as Janine Tenoso, and Ice Seguerra. More performers, including other OPM artists, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. 

Directed by Roy San Luis, the production will combine live music with storytelling, built on the promise of “Timeless Songs. New Perspectives. Unforgettable Stories.” It will start with a cinematic opening exploring Jay’s creative journey and the inspirations behind his compositions before transitioning to performances with his South Border bandmates. 

Beyond bringing back the band’s well-loved hits, the concert aims to introduce audiences to the creative process behind the music and offer a different way of experiencing songs that have remained close to Filipino listeners through the years.
