PH Army sacks battalion chief after misencounter
THE Philippine Army has temporarily relieved the commander of the battalion involved in the misencounter that resulted in the deaths of six policemen and wounding of nine others.
Maj. Gen. Raul Farnacio, commander of the Army’s 8th Infantry Division (ID), said that Lt. Col. Arnel Floresca, commander of the 87th Infantry Battalion, was relieved from his post pending results of an ongoing investigation into the mistaken clash in Samar on Monday.
“This is part of the process so that he can have no influence [into the investigation],” Farnacio told reporters in a phone interview. DEMPSEY REYES
