Another quake hits coast of Davao Oriental

MANILA, Philippines—Another earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.4, struck off the coast of Davao Oriental following an earlier 7.2 quake, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Saturday.

In its latest earthquake bulletin Saturday afternoon, Phivolcs said the earthquake struck at 5:12 p.m.

Phivolcs traced its epicenter about 207 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 93 km.

Phivolcs said no aftershocks and damage could be expected from this earthquake episode. /jpv
