A local court found probable cause to indict Sen. Antonio Trillanes 4th for grave threat after he allegedly threatened to kill a Labor official “without justifiable cause.”

The ruling of the Pasay City Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) Branch 47, which was released on Friday, stemmed from a complaint, which Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras filed before Prosecutor Reynaldo Ticyado.

Paras, in his complaint, said his mind could not rest easy since the senator allegedly made the threats on May 29 2018 when in an interview with reporters, Trillanes called Paras a “mercenary” and threatened “to kill him.”

“Without justifiable cause did then and there willfully, unlawfully and feloniously threatened to kill Jacinto Paras, thereby creating fear and anxiety on the mind of said complainant,” the court order read, saying Paras’ fear for his life convinced the court to indict Trillanes.

Trillanes and Paras are scheduled to appear before Pasay MTC Branch 47 on February 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Trillanes, who was given 10 days from receipt of the order to file a counter-affidavit and affidavits of his witnesses or any other evidence in his behalf, said like all other “harassment” cases filed against him, he would face Paras’ threat charges “squarely.”

Paras was given a similar period to file his Reply upon receiving Trillanes’ pleadings.

“Binaliktad na talaga ni Duterte ang hustisya sa Pilipinas. Siya itong pinapatay mismo ang mga ordinaryong Pilipino, pinapa-rape ang mga babae sa mga sundalo, pinapa-kidnap at torture ang mga COA auditors at pinapa-holdup ang mga bishops, tapos ako ang pinakasuhan nya ng grave threats sa mga bata nya? Baliw talaga,” said Trillanes who arrived from his trip abroad on Wednesday.

(Duterte has really changed the justice system in the Philippines. He is responsible for killing ordinary Filipinos, has asked soldiers to rape women, ordered the kidnap and torture of COA auditors and hold-up bishops, and now he is asking his men to file grave charges against me? He is really crazy.)

“I just arrived from my trip last Wednesday despite all threats against me, precisely, to show these people that I am not afraid of them,” he said.

The grave threat case is one of several suits Trillanes is facing.

Paras and lawyer Manuelito Luna filed inciting to sedition and conspiracy or proposal to commit coup d’etat before a Pasay prosecutor.

Trillanes is also out on bail for a rebellion case he is facing before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150.

He is also charged with coup d’etat before the Makati RTC Branch 149.

The last two cases were supposed to have been dropped after then president Benigno Aquino 3rd granted him amnesty in 2012.

President Rodrigo Duterte, however, revoked Aquino’s order, saying that the senator never admitted his crimes and failed to apply for amnesty as part of the process. NEIL JAYSON SERVALLOS, JAVIER JOE ISMAEL
