ANOTHER set of bricks of suspected cocaine was found in Aurora and Davao Oriental on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said a fisherman retrieved one brick, wrapped in plastic and tied with rubber, at about 1 p.m. on the shores of Dingalan, Aurora. It weighs about one kilo and has a street value of about P5 million.

The fisherman surrendered the brick to police in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, where he lived, and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.

At almost the same time, Police Regional Office 11 recovered 36 packs containing suspected cocaine in Barangay Santiago, Caraga, Davao Oriental at about 1:30 p.m.

An unidentified resident discovered the illegal substance at about 11 a.m. while swimming in the area and surrendered it to the Caraga Municipal Police Station.

Thirty-four bricks of suspected cocaine were found in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur also on Sunday.

Two weeks ago, a total of 77 blocks of cocaine were found on the coastlines of Siargao Islands and Dinagat Island.

Blocks of floating cocaine were also found in Camarines Norte and Quezon province.

PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said these cocaine blocks were not targeted to be distributed in the Philippines because it was too expensive for drug users in the country.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino said the recovered packs of cocaine could be diversionary tactics for drug groups to smuggle larger volumes of the illegal substance. ROY NARRA
