MANILA, Philippines — Policemen assigned to the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) of the Eastern Police District (EPD) were relieved after one of their members allegedly extorted money from a woman in exchange of dropping drug charges against her live-in partner.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the 15-man unit, including its chief, was relieved after Police Corporal Marlo Siblao Quibete was arrested in an entrapment operation in Pasig City on Tuesday night.

According to NCRPO, Quibete took P60,000 and a gold necklace from Eva Cabansag whose live-in partner Aries Ochoada was arrested for drugs.

Quibete also allegedly forced Cabansag to sign a deed of sale for their motorcycle, according to the police.
