Data analyst arrested in Pasay hotel for ‘sextortion’

A data analyst was arrested in Pasay City after he allegedly threatened a 19-year-old woman to leak her nude photos and videos online unless she agreed to have sex with him.
Police apprehended the suspect identified as Renz Marion Abelardo, 21, a native of Pampanga, during an entrapment operation inside a hotel room in Pasay City at around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The operation stemmed from the complaint of alias “Shiela Mae” whom he blackmailed to force her to have sex with him.
According to Shiela Mae, she met Abelardo on Facebook. Abelardo demanded her to send such images after he told her that he had access to her account.
Shiela Mae then sought help from the police who launched an entrapment operation against the suspect.
As part of the sting, the woman agreed to meet with Abelardo in a hotel in Pasay City, which led to his arrest.
Abelardo will be charged with violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, acts of lasciviousness, and grave coercion, according to police. (Michelle Guillang)
