MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Monday an Army soldier who allegedly poked a gun at a bus terminal porter in Pasay City.

The police said a concerned citizen reported seeing an armed man at the Inland Bus Terminal at about 8:45 a.m.

Chief Inspector Freud Vila, chief of the Malibay Police Community Precinct, PO3 Christopher Ruano, PO2 Bob Salahid, and PO1 Jumie Josue responded and saw Staff Sergeant Arman Andilab, 40, with a gun tucked in his waist.

Vila told INQUIRER.net that Andilab was supposed to board a bus going to Southern Leyte when a porter carried his belongings and demanded P50.

Vila said the soldier refused to pay the fee and instead allegedly drew his gun while claiming to be a policeman.

“Hindi kasi dapat bulging (‘yung baril) lalo na kapag naka-civilian attire. Lalong hindi dapat gamiting panakot (The gun should not be bulging, especially if one is in civilian clothing. It should also not be used to threaten anyone),” Vila said.

During his arrest, police found out that the armed man was a member of the Army.

Police said Andilab was brought to the Pasay City Police Office where he faces a charge for violating the election gun ban. /cbb
