4 Muslim extremists killed, 11 wounded in Maguindanao clash

FOUR members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were killed in an encounter with the military on Wednesday in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao, the Philippine Army said on Thursday.

Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID), identified two of the terrorists as Ali Abdul Malik, brother of Abu Turayfe and one son of Abu Saiden.

The other two remain unidentified, Sobejana said.

The encounter took place on Wednesday morning in Barangay Pamalian, Datu Unsay.

Sobejana also said there were 11 wounded on the side of the Muslim extremists.

“This is part of our focused military operations, we inspected their suspected hideouts and directly fired, being able for us to determine their location hitting also the brother of Abu Torayfe,” he told reporters.

Apart from the casualties, Sobejana said Army troopers also seized various war materiel including improvised explosive devices. DEMPSEY REYES
