Parts of Luzon experience up to 3-hour brownouts

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, have experienced rotational brownouts Friday, with some lasting three hours, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said.
In an advisory, Meralco said some areas were affected by “manual load dropping due to insufficient operating reserve.”
The affected areas in the National Capital Region were Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Parañaque, Pasay, San Juan, Las Piñas, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Pasig, and Taguig, according to Meralco.
Parts of Bulacan including Plaridel, Malolos City, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, Pandi, Norzagaray, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Angat, Paombong, Hagonoy, Calumpit, Meycauayan, Santa Maria, Marilao, and Bocaue were also affected by the power interruption.
In Cavite, the cities and municipalities of Imus, General Trias, Dasmariñas, Trece Martirez, Tagaytay, Silang, Naic, Indang, Amadeo, Bacoor, Noveleta, Kawit, Cavite City, Tanza also experienced a power outage.
Meanwhile, Batangas City and Talisay in Batangas; Taytay and Cainta in Rizal; Cabuyao City in Laguna; and the municipality of Apalit in Pampanga were also affected by the rotational brownouts, according to Meralco.
In a separate advisory, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has also issued a red alert notice in the Luzon grid from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. while a yellow alert was declared from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.and from 10 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
