Super-flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas will travel to Macau late this month to receive a major award from the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Coming off the seventh defense of the IBF 115-lb crown with a seventh-round stoppage of Japanese mandatory challenger Ryuichi Funai, the 27-year-old Ancajas will be feted with the Jersey Joe Walcott award, the most prestigious that will be given during the gala night of the IBF’s annual convention at the Wynn Cotai on March 30.

Ancajas is currently on vacation in Las Vegas with lead trainer and manager Joven Jimenez and is due to return to Manila on Tuesday.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum is eyeing to book Ancajas in September against undefeated Australian Andrew “Monster” Moloney.

Though nothing’s etched on stone just yet, Ancajas is playing it nice and easy and will do so until he starts training camp sometime in July.

Sean Gibbons, Ancajas’s agent and Manny Pacquiao’s right-hand man, was ecstatic with the IBF’s recognition of Ancajas’ exploits.

“That’s a big award,” said Gibbons, who will join his top fighter in Macau to rub elbows with other boxing bigwigs.
