Kingad saves Team Lakay in Dawn of Heroes

EDUARD “The Landslide” Folayang suffered a tough loss after submitting to Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez on Friday night in ONE: Dawn of Heroes at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City,

The 35-year old Folayang unleashed a barrage of punches and strikes that tagged Alvarez seconds after the opening bell.

But Alvarez was able to reverse the position that choked Folayang, which forced him to tap out with a rear-naked choke in the first round.

Folayang dropped his win-loss record to 21-8 while Alvarez improved to 30-7.

Danny “The King” Kingad saved the night for the Team Lakay ward after three of their members also fell to their opponents.

After three rounds of intense action, Kingad scored a split decision victory against Filipino-Australian Reece McLaren to advance in the ONE World Grand Prix finals.

Kingad will face Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in the finals after scoring a unanimous decision victory against Tatsumitsu Wada in the preliminary card.

Johnson and Kingad will face each other in the Grand Prix finals set in Japan in October.

Kingad improved his record to 11-1 while McLaren suffered his second straight loss to drop his slate to 12-7.

In the earlier matches, Geje Eustaquio was knocked out by Yuya Wakamatsu in the first round while Honorio Banario lost via unanimous decision against Dae Sung Park.

On the other hand, Xie Bin of China scored a technical decision win over  another Team Lakay bet Edward Kelly. JEAN RUSSEL V. DAVID
