‘Hanna’ now a severe tropical storm – Pagasa

“HANNA” has strengthened into a severe tropical storm as it lingered off the coast of Cagayan on Tuesday, the state-run weather bureau said.
As of 10 a.m., the Philippine spotted Hanna at 795 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan. It was carrying maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 115 kph. Pagasa said Hanna had been almost stationary for the past 23 hours.
Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said Hanna may further intensify into a typhoon on Thursday but was unlikely to make landfall.
The enhanced southwest monsoon, red rainfall warning signal was raised over Busuanga, Coron, Culion, Linapacan, El Nido and Taytay in Palawan, with threats of serious flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas. Yellow rainfall warning signal was raised over Agutaya, Magsaysay, Cuyo, Dumaran, and Aracelli in Palawan.
Meanwhile, a gale warning was declared in more parts of the country in the eastern coast of Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Quezon including Polilio Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, Cebu, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Misamisa Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao Del Norte, Camiguin, Agusan Del Norte, Surigao Del Norte including Siargao Island, Surigao Del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
