ARE you currently employed but is having a hard time making ends meet?

Reality is that having one income can no longer support the growing needs of most Filipino families. Don’t get me wrong, but having a job is one of the greatest blessings in life and many people are praying to have one. But if you are not creative enough, I can assure you that your income will not be enough.

If you’ve noticed, those who have attained financial stability are mostly business people. Those who are categorized as rich are the business owners. So don’t feel bad if you desire to do business because of these aspirations – you do have one of the most valid reasons.

It’s already a given fact that doing business will help increase your cash flow, provided that it’s managed well. So let’s check that off our list.

Listed below are eight other reasons that should convince you to do business:

  1. Business challenges you to learn new skills

One reality you’ll discover when working for a company is that most of the time you do “your thing” at work because you have to and you’re paid to do it (even when you don’t feel like it).

Working for someone gives you many reasons to slack off, especially when you’re asked to learn new skills (training here, there and everywhere!). Have you ever had an experience when you asked somebody to do something for you and you were simply directed to the “right person”?

When you have your own business, that right person is none other than yourself. As a business owner, you get to learn a lot of new skills, even the ones you thought you’re not capable of doing. Learning new things keeps you equipped and sharp.

  1. Business lets you connect with mentors

The best thing about having a business is developing networks and connections. You get to mingle with fellow business people in your field and you’ll find people who are willing to share their story, expertise, and strategies. You get to connect with mentors who can motivate and empower you, and out of these connections, you can create lifelong relationships.

  1. Business lets you express your creativity

Have you ever had a creative idea in mind but your employment status did not allow you to share this to others? Managers in a company usually conduct meetings so they can brainstorm about ideas. But how can an ordinary rank-and-file employee like you even express your idea when there’s no avenue provided for you?

There are however, good companies who give opportunities to their employees to express their creative ideas and then there are those who don’t.

As owner of your own business, you have the privilege of showcasing your creative ideas, you are now allowed to take creative risks and even give the full credit to yourself. Creativity is like a muscle, the more we use it, the more they will develop and assert themselves. Being your own boss is the best way to exercise your creativity.

  1. Business provides opportunity to attain financial independence

Owning your own business means you get to call the shots. You decide whether or not to take risks or make investments. Similarly, you also enjoy the rewards and benefits of the hard work you put into your business.

The way you run your business, handle finances, and work together with your team will be the deciding factors for your financial reward. You no longer have to live from paycheck to paycheck. Your income will depend on the amount of hard work you put in your business.

  1. Business allows you to create jobs for others

I often say this: “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” Unemployment is one of the pressing problems our country is currently facing. The job market is not doing well these days and many of our fellow countrymen still don’t get a chance at employment.

Starting your own business can open job opportunities for other people. Small businesses have contributed a lot to the solution of unemployment in our country.

  1. Business lets you build your dreams

Your own business is an extension of yourself. Therefore, your business helps you to make your dreams to become a reality and what inspired you to do business and your goals, you get to share all of these to other people. Not everyone is given this opportunity and having your own business opens the door for that opportunity.

  1. Business can make you inspire others

Stories of successful business people are always inspiring and empowering. Every time we hear their success stories, something inside us is stirred and we become inspired and motivated. Having your own business will give you the opportunity to be the source of inspiration for others. How great is that?

  1. Business can make you change the world

I don’t think Jack Ma ever planned on changing the world through his inspiring stories and business motivations. And who knows, your business might just be the beginning of yourself becoming a world changer! And even if it’s not on that level, working in your business with honesty, integrity, harmony, peace, and love, already has you playing a role of a catalyst in changing the world.
