Just because the White House is on fire (figuratively) and president Donald Trump is being threatened with impeachment doesn’t mean B.C. gamblers can’t have a little fun — and make a little money — at our southern neighbour’s expense.

The B.C. Lottery Corporation says wagers connected to the Trump presidency have become the most popular novelty bets on its Playnow.com online gambling website.

The BCLC says after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump last week, the odds for the President to be impeached during his first term have shifted to 17/20, meaning a $20 wager would return $37.

Gamblers can also bet on which world leader — Trump (17/10) or embattled British prime minister Boris Johnson (1/5) — will be out of a job first.

You can also wager on whether Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin will take a vacation together during the U.S. president’s first term. With odds at 99/1, a B.C. gambler could be swimming in money if the two leaders are spotted on a beach somewhere together.

The 2020 U.S. election may be more than a year away, but B.C. bettors can already wager on who will win the Democratic and Republican Presidential nominations, and who will win the election.
