One man arrested after armed bank robbery in Chilliwack

A man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a Chilliwack bank.
A man entered a bank on Main Street in Chilliwack on Thursday, Oct. 17, brandishing a weapon and demanding money from a teller. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said, but did not get far, as a responding RCMP officer quickly spotted someone matching the robber’s description.
Following a short foot pursuit, a suspect was arrested.
Brett Penner has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of obstruction, and will remain in custody until an Oct. 28 court date.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP.
