Delta police say arson could be the cause after five garbage fires were reported in one night.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Delta Fire responded to four garbage bins on fire, all within the 7000 block of 120th Street. While the fires were all put out and there was minimal damage to the garbage cans, Delta Police were called in to investigate due to the close proximity of all four fires.
Just over an hour later, Delta Fire again notified police that another garbage bin was on fire in the 7200 block of 120th Street.
“At this time we believe the five incidents are related and were set by one individual or one group of individuals,” said Acting Insp. Ciaran Feenan.
“While the fires were minor in nature and there were fortunately no injuries, we do take incidents like this seriously.”
