Melania Trump thanks Liza Marcos for upcoming hosting of ‘Fostering the Future’ event

MANILA — US First Lady Melania Trump thanked First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for committing to host an event of her program called “Fostering the Future Together” on the sidelines of the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in November.

“I thank Ms. Marcos from the Philippines, who has committed to hosting a Fostering the Future Together event at the upcoming ASEAN conference in Manila,” Trump said in her speech at a luncheon with First Spouses on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 22.

Marcos earlier shared photos with Trump and other First Spouses in the event.

“No matter where we come from, we all share the same hope for our children — that they are given every opportunity to learn, grow and thrive, while staying safe and protected in an increasingly digital world,” Marcos wrote in a caption on social media on Wednesday.

She further extended gratitude for “bringing us together for a cause so close to every parent’s heart.”

“Here’s to building a safer, brighter and more hopeful future for all children — especially our young Filipino youth who have fallen victims to all these creepy websites,” Marcos said.

“Amazing to see First Lady Melania Trump and First Lady Liza Marcos come together around such an AMAZING initiative. EXCITED to provide access to new educational tools for Filipino students,” US envoy Lee Lipton said in a separate social media post.

Trump’s program is a global coalition of fifty-seven participating countries “unified to empower children through technology and education,” according to the White House.

Apart from the Philippines, Trump also unveiled similar events to be held on the sidelines of G20, European Regional Meeting and Caribbean Regional Meeting this year.
